Summary

The Neighborhood Developers (TND) is hiring a one-year, full-time, hybrid CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA to help increase efficiency for our CONNECT and Data & Learning teams and enable them to optimize their use of our Salesforce database. (TND-led CONNECT is a Financial Opportunity Center where community members get the support they need to find a better job, secure rental assistance and other public benefits, and advance household financial and wealth-building goals.)  Do you like working with data?  Do you have good analytical and research skills?  Do you believe in the transformative power of data? Do you think everyone deserves an affordable, quality home and a path to economic stability and wealth?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this position could be for you!

Overview

TND is a non-profit community development organization with a mission to create strong neighborhoods enabling community members to secure a stable home, achieve economic mobility, and determine their own future.  We build affordable homes, support households to achieve greater financial mobility, and organize community leaders on issues related to neighborhood conditions as well as social and housing justice.  TND’s headquarters is in Chelsea, where it has operated since 1978.  The organization was invited into Revere in 2010, and since 2018, we are also offering some of our services in Everett.  For more information see www.theneighborhooddevelopers.org.

As the 2024-2025 CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA, starting in late November of 2024, you will have the unique opportunity to help us increase the efficiency of our amazing CONNECT and Data & Learning teams and help them optimize their use of our Salesforce database. You will help streamline systems that link clients with low incomes and/or limited English proficiency to multiple economic mobility services available at CONNECT, since clients who “bundle” – or access multiple services – are more likely to improve their financial mobility. The VISTA year will provide you with an excellent experience, help you gain highly marketable skills, and leave TND with tangible and transformative tools to better meet its mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete the Salesforce training necessary to make informed observations about how to enhance TND’s and CONNECT’s current use of the Salesforce

  • Support the streamlining of CONNECT’s current client intake system.

    •    Build a process guide for sustainable long-term maintenance and growth of the Data Hub.

    •  Collaborate with TND’s Communications and Community Building teams to create a targeted plan to engage the community with the Data Hub.

    • Develop new elements of the Community Data Hub in response to community feedback and to support advocacy efforts.

Please note that this is a VISTA member position, not a staff position. The CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA member will be supervised by the SVP of Data & Learning and will work closely with the CONNECT Director.  The VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program provides full-time volunteers to nonprofit, faith-based and other community organizations to create and expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.  The VISTA program offers a living allowance, an education award or cash stipend and health insurance.  In Suffolk County (where TND is located), service members receive a bi-weekly living allowance of $1320.06 and are eligible for an education award at the end of their year of service.  The education award was $7,395.00 for full year members in FY24 (subject to change).
